Baby's First Mom-Made Dresses = 2 WIPs Off the List

Another month passed already? Well, I guess it has. I'm at home these days and slowly working to improve my sleep deprivation - hyperactive Trill symbiont in my womb, anyone? - as well as preparing in-depth for the little one's arrival. Both weren't really feasible tasks while I was still working, so even though I do miss seeing the colleagues I'm happy to spend my days sleeping, reading, sewing, cooking, and having lots of much-needed breaks.

Which means finally adding me-made things to the wardrobe. Yay!

Rae's Little Geranium dress comes together quickly and easily but you still need time to actually sit down and sew. D'oh. I'm so in love with both versions but decided to ditch the pockets.

With these down my belt and out of the way I'm set to finally cut into the quilt fabrics. After all, a deadline is looming...

Happy sewing!

Grecian Waters HSTs - Return of a WIP #2

I'd like to say thank you to all of you who were as thrilled as myself to see this quilt return and have made useful suggestions helping me with my colour choice dilemma as well as providing creative input - looking at you Molli.

To avoid buying more fabric than necessary I trialled Kona charms from the dark palette.

I'm drawn to the less purply, less blue, less dark colours so these three are out: purple, midnight, raisin.

These two are much closer: eggplant (left) and hibiscus (right). Surprise surprise, they're both from my original set of choices! Guess somebody might be a little bit biased...

Berry, number three, isn't part of the charm pack but I'm now convinced it's a tad too light anyway. The picture doesn't capture the colours perfectly, meh, but they do look great in daylight. Both are sizzling contenders, however, I have made a decision and will be ordering yardage soon to keep this project going. Stay tuned to find out which one made the cut!

Happy sewing!

Baby's First Dress(es) #1

I've made a head-start on these dresses using Made by Rae's Geranium Dress pattern which she offers for free in size 0-3 months. Too cute and so simple to make.

That is when you don't mix up your skirt fabrics during a photo session which makes you doubt your original choice of fabrics for tops and skirts. My green swallows dress...

...would also look way cute with these strings of pearls on blue.

And this dreamy blue fox dress...

... wouldn't look too shabby if the foxes dreamt on a slope of green grass, either.

Aaaah...why?? Well, I suppose it's best to call it a day and return to my knitting for the evening rather than rush this.

Happy sewing!
